I was heavily inspired by the Western Montana way of life for this Montana Engagement Session. Usually when people think “engagement session,” it involves dressing up, getting your hair and make up done, and basically looking like your ready to go out to a fancy dinner. I wanted this session to feel more real and showcase Western Montana couples in a more natural setting.

You don’t have to get dolled up and put on a fancy dress to get your photos taken. The weather doesn’t have to be perfect and sunny. If it’s raining or snowing, don’t let that stop you! When it comes to doing a Montana engagement session, we can just hangout, go check cows or ride around on your favorite horse. This couple met at a rodeo, this session was at a Western Montana Ranch and nobody’s dressed up in high-heels and lipstick! Their photos are still incredible, they had an amazing time and come on.. look how happy they are!! Planning your Montana engagement session doesn’t have to be hard!! If you really don’t want to put on a dress and spend hours getting ready, you don’t have to!

How to Plan a Western Montana Engagement Session

Step 1: Get Engaged!!! Already done? Congratulations!!

Step 2: Book a bad*ss Montana photographer!! ..like yours truly!

Step 3: What’s something you love to do? Ride horses, hangout with the cows, go for a hike, play in the water, fishing.. bonus points if it’s an outdoor activity!

Step 4: Put on an outfit you feel good in, spend as much time as you want getting ready and let’s hangout!! I’ll take the pictures while you and your fiance enjoy your favorite thing to do! Basically, you’re on a date night and i’m the third wheel with a camera!

Step 5: Don’t over think it! You’re engaged to your best friend and that’s what matters most! Just be yourselves and have a good time!
